Where are you located?Crescenza Studio is operated out of our home studio at 332 East Avenue, Sullivan, MO. We are a half-mile from the high school. In fact, students can take the sidewalk all the way from the school to the studio if they have an after-school lesson.

What method/curriculum do you use?Piano: For very young beginners, we use Wunderkeys. For almost everyone else, we use Faber Piano Adventures, along with a smattering of other materials for students learning theory, improvisation, scales, fakebook patterns, or advanced music. Contact us at the email address below if you have specific questions. Voice: Solo pieces are highly individual, but we use Sing on Sight to develop sight-singing For younger children or very new musicians, we use the Full Voice workbooks. For beginning vocalists, we use a lot of songs written by Mark Patterson and Andy Beck. Intermediate vocalists might sing from 24 Italian Songs and Arias and Joyce Boytim's First Book of Solos Collection. We also sing from a lot of octavos because they are affordable and accessible and are available in a wide array of musical styles and interests. Math: We use Saxon math. If students wish to use a different curriculum, teacher's manuals must be provided for the duration of the course. Writing: Miss Amy is an accredited IEW instructor and offers many different courses using their method and materials. Courses may be taken privately or in a class setting. In addition, we have developed our own curricula for essay writing, creative writing, and research-paper writing. Grammar: We use Analytical Grammar and IEW's Grammar Fix It!

How much should I expect to pay for materials?A beginning piano student can expect to pay about $30 for their first set of books. Vocalists will pay $30-40, depending on the level of the student and what vocal material is selected first. After that, students should plan to spend $30-$40 every six months on additional materials. Private math, writing, and grammar students provide their own materials. For advanced courses, the student must also provide a teacher's manual for us to borrow for the duration of the course. (Unless we already own the teacher's manual.) Students taking IEW courses can expect to pay about $30-$35 for two semester's worth of materials, plus shipping. Books can purchased through IEW's website, Christian Book Distributors, or Amazon. Sometimes free shipping is offered through certain websites. Ask me for details. Students taking Research-Paper Writing will need a current MLA Handbook, which can usually be bought from Amazon for less than $20. It's a valuable resource that will be used throughout a student's high school and college career.
